For this post I really don't need any words, the pictures will explain why you should plant echinacea in your landscape. But since this is a blog (and I make the rules) I'll share with you why I like it in the garden and where I've planted it!
- Seeds: Easy by seed with cold stratification. I drop the seed where I want it to grow in the fall and by spring seedlings are reliably coming up.
- Cuttings: Basal stem cuttings have worked for me in the spring.
- Division: Dividing the clumps works too! I would reserve dividing coneflowers for spring as new growth is just beginning to appear. There's less of a chance of shocking the plant during this time and you can usually count on more rain present in the forecast to water the newly divided perennial.
